ARIELLE FALK

I explore the human condition, focusing on topics such as identity, sexuality,
the body, communication, personal space and physical presence. Purposeful, formal, and often awkward, my work is a reaction to the ambiguous and traumatic conditions of modern life. Inspired my own experiences, ideas begin as sketches & written text and are eventually realized in challenging, endurance based performative video, interactive sculpture/installation, or performance presented in both traditional and non-traditional settings. Employing dialectical themes – comedy and tragedy, intimacy and detachment, design and disorder, subject and object, spareness and excess, individuality and universality, I allude to the contradictions embedded in our daily existence and attempt to provoke conflicting responses in the viewer.
